Chris Young

Chris Young, principal with Ikon Financial Group, is co-owner of the firm and oversees hiring, management and training of the Ikon sales team. With more than seven years’ experience in the mortgage industry, Chris’ leadership has taken Ikon from a two-man operation to a nine-office company with some 30 employees in just two short years and has propelled him to a $50-million/year producer, making him one of the top mortgage producers in the Charleston area.

His creation of the company’s signature Concierge Service, which provides Ikon customers with all the services they need to successfully close their loan, illustrates his personal commitment to providing his clients the ultimate in service in the Charleston area. Chris is dedicated to ensuring that every client is satisfied with all aspects of the loan process, and that dedication often translates into lower rates and faster, often early, closings. His commitment to service has not only helped the company become the largest mortgage firm in the Charleston area but also helps him recruit well-known, experienced producers who are looking for a better experience for their customers.

Before opening Ikon in 2008, Chris was a loan officer at New South Mortgage in Charleston for three years where he became the company’s No. 1 selling producer. A graduate of the University of South Carolina where he was a member of the Gamecocks baseball team, Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in business finance and is a dedicated alum and member of the Gamecock Club, which supports student scholarships at the university.

Chris believes in giving back to the community, which has supported Ikon’s success. “I believe in reaching out our hand rather than just always having our hand out,” he says. In addition to helping create the company’s microloan program, which in partnership with Kiva.org donates a portion of the firm’s profits from each closing to find third world microloans, he and his wife dedicate their time to serve as mentors to children participating in Louie’s Kids. The organization helps overweight children in Charleston become more healthy. They are also active members of Mt Pleasant Presbyterian Church.

A native of Columbia, S.C., Chris now calls Sullivan’s Island home where he is a regular beachcomber and enjoys spending time with his wife, Murray, and their two dogs, Bailey and Maggie. When not working, he enjoys fishing, skiing, wakeboarding and hanging out at the beach with friends and family.
